The Greene County Tourist Promotion Agency is located at the lower level of the Greene County Airport. We are staffed with two, full-time employees—Director Jeanie Patton and administrative assistant, Courtney Dennis. Our agency’s mission is to promote Greene County to potential tourists. The agency produces and distributes numerous brochures and is active at local events and state conventions. We are also part of a regional organization—Pittsburgh and Its Countryside—which provides us with the opportunity to attend regional events and to advertise in state and national publications. We also belong to two state organizations—the Pennsylvania Association of Convention and Visitors Bureaus and the Pennsylvania Tourism and Lodging Association. Our main fundraiser is the Greene County covered bridge puzzle series. Our membership drive is also very important to the agency. By becoming a member of Greene County Tourism, businesses and organizations are provided with an opportunity to be advertised on our website, as well as in county, regional and state publications and websites. We value our members, and take every opportunity we can to promote them. Our membership costs provide a great value, as your dues can pay for themselves in just one advertisement. We are currently working on organizing a Textile Heritage Celebration. This will include a painted quilt square project that will get students from all of the districts in the county involved. These squares will be placed on barns throughout the county. Once this is completed, we will produce a driving tour booklet as well as a collector’s print, which will be available exclusively through the Tourism office. In conjunction with this project, we will be working with the Greene County Historical Museum on hosting a quilt show in late October—the first of its kind in the county.
