Carol L. Randolph is an award-winning artist and will accept commissions on portraits of people and pets and will paint them in oils. She will also make note cards of these portraits or any other subject if desired. She will also paint other subjects--such as houses--on canvas, artist board and other surfaces. She has a large selection of note cards with prints of her paintings, line drawings, linoleum block prints, and photographs she has taken. Some of her cards are for sale in the Chamber of Commerce office year round.

Carol was born and raised in Wheeling, West Virginia. Her degree from West Virginia University is not in art. She is married and the mother of two grown sons. Beginning her painting later in life, she studied with many recognized artists such as Dorothy Dent, Helan Barrick, Dorothy Egan and Johnnie Liliedahl. She traveled to the Cape Cod School of Art to study landscape with Lois Griffel and portraiture with the Eglie family. More recently she studied Oriental watercolor and sumi-e with Lian Zhen and with Hye-yong Jang, "The Spirit of Korea", who said that she is "...a very important student who will create excellent Oriental artworks."

Carol enjoys using a variety of surfaces, mediums and styles to achieve some of her most interesting works in the subjects of landscapes and seascapes still life, animals, flowers and portraits. Her primary medium is oils, followed by Chinese watercolor and sumi-ink (sumi-e), silk dyes and acrylic. She has won awards in both oils and sumi-e.

Her work has also been seen where her talent has brought invitations to teach: Utah, Oregon, Washington, Ohio and Pennsylvania and in Calgary, London, Toronto and Niagara Falls, Canada. She is represented by several galleries in Pennsylvania and her work is held in private collections in the United States, Canada and Europe.

Carol works in her studio in Waynesburg. She sells her works there, paints on commission and teaches. Her studio is open by appointment only. She travels to paint en plain air and to teach and encourage budding students.
