The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society ® (LLS) is the world's largest voluntary health agency dedicated to blood cancer. The LLS mission: Cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. LLS funds lifesaving blood cancer research around the world and provides free information and support services.

Since its inception in 1949, LLS has invested more than $600 million in research to find cures and better therapies. In 2010, more than $14 million was awarded through LLS Co-Pay Assistance Program to help patients with prescription drug co-pays and insurance premium obligation.

Through its patient services programs, LLS offers a comprehensive array of education and support services to blood cancer patients and their families. There are family support groups, patient education workshops featuring health experts, and First Connection – a peer-to-peer support program that matches newly diagnosed patients with trained volunteer survivors. A back to school program help children treated for cancer transition back to school. LLS also provides financial assistance to patients with significant financial need and an insurance co-pay assistance program.

The Pineapple Classic 5K:
August 20th Greene County Fairgrounds-Waynesburg, PA

This 5k fun, Hawaiian-themed run with obstacles will begin at 9:00a.m. with an after race luau including food, drink and Hawaiian entertainment starting immediately after the first runner crosses the finish line. Compete as an individual runner or walker or in teams of 2, 3 or 4. Prizes will be awarded to the fastest teams and to best costume! All proceeds from this exciting event benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society to support its cancer research and patient services programs in Greene County. Light The Night Walk- September 24th-Uniontown, PA
The Annual Light the Night Walk benefiting the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Western PA and WV will be held on Saturday, Sept. 24, 2011, at Laurel Highlands High School stadium. The non-competitive Walk will support local patients afflicted with leukemia, lymphoma, myeloma and Hodgkin's disease. This year's walk will begin with entertainment, food and kids' activities at 5:30 PM, and the Walk begins at 7:30 PM.
